Brian recently retired from a 38-year career as an educator and leader in the education field, ultimately serving as the Executive Director of Special Education at Katy Independent School District. He started his career at the Houston Independent School District as a special education teacher and SpEd coordinator. As his career progressed, he advanced into positions at the Region 13 Educational Service Center in Austin, Texas as the State Director of High School Redesign; the Region 4 Education Service Center as a Director of Leadership and a Director of Instructional Support Services; and Spring Independent School District as an Executive Director.
As he rose through the leadership ranks, Brian kept his teaching skills sharp by continuing to teach. He worked at the University of St. Thomas, Concordia University, and University of Houston in the doctorate and graduate programs in leadership, special education, and research studies.
Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Houston, and a doctorate degree in educational administration and cultural studies from the University of Houston.
